Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about NuvaMed's telehealth programs, compounded GLP-1 medications, and ED treatment — answered plainly.
How does NuvaMed work? +
NuvaMed is a telehealth platform that connects you with licensed physicians online. You complete a short health intake (about 8 minutes), a board-certified physician reviews it within 24 hours, and if you qualify, your prescription is sent to a licensed compounding pharmacy and shipped directly to your door — no in-person visit required.
What medications does NuvaMed offer? +
NuvaMed offers four compounded medications prescribed online:
- Compounded semaglutide — same active ingredient as Ozempic® and Wegovy®. GLP-1 weight loss. From $249/mo.
- Compounded tirzepatide — same active ingredient as Mounjaro® and Zepbound®. GLP-1 + GIP dual-action. From $299/mo.
- Compounded sildenafil — same active ingredient as Viagra®. ED treatment. From $49/mo.
- Compounded tadalafil — same active ingredient as Cialis®. Daily or as-needed ED treatment. From $49/mo.
Is compounded semaglutide safe? +
Yes. Compounded semaglutide uses the same active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) as brand-name medications like Ozempic® and Wegovy®. It is prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies under 503A or 503B FDA oversight — meaning the pharmacy, its equipment, and its practices are all regulated. Every NuvaMed prescription is reviewed by a licensed physician who evaluates your complete health history before prescribing.
Do I need health insurance? +
No. NuvaMed programs are cash-pay and all-inclusive. Your monthly fee covers medication, physician consultation, and home delivery. There are no hidden fees, no insurance forms to file, and no surprise bills.
How much does it cost? +
All-inclusive monthly pricing:
- Semaglutide (GLP-1 weight loss) — from $249/month
- Tirzepatide (GLP-1 + GIP weight loss) — from $299/month
- Sildenafil (ED) — from $49/month
- Tadalafil (ED, daily or as-needed) — from $49/month
Compared to $900–$1,200/month for brand-name Ozempic® or Wegovy®, compounded semaglutide through NuvaMed offers the same active ingredient at a fraction of the cost.
Which states does NuvaMed serve? +
NuvaMed provides telehealth GLP-1 and ED prescriptions in all 50 states. After completing your intake, a licensed physician in your state reviews your information and issues a prescription if you qualify.
How long does it take to receive my medication? +
Physician review takes up to 24 hours after you submit your intake. Once your prescription is approved, your medication is shipped from a licensed compounding pharmacy and typically arrives within 5–7 business days.
What is the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide? +
Both are GLP-1 receptor agonists that reduce appetite and slow digestion. The key difference is that tirzepatide also activates GIP receptors — a second hormonal pathway — which research shows produces approximately 5% more average weight loss. Clinical trials found tirzepatide patients lost an average of 20.9% of body weight versus 15–17% for semaglutide. Tirzepatide is priced slightly higher ($299/mo vs $249/mo). Your physician recommends the right option based on your health history and goals.
How do I qualify for a GLP-1 prescription? +
Most adults qualify if they have a BMI of 27 or higher plus at least one weight-related condition (high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol), or a BMI of 30 or higher regardless of other conditions. A licensed physician makes the final determination based on your full health history. Take the free 60-second assessment to get a personal probability score before committing.
Can I cancel anytime? +
Yes. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. Message your care team through your account portal or email help@nuvamed.org at any time to pause or cancel.
